Pregnancy may be a time where you feel tired, overwhelmed, and not your best, as so many changes happen over those miraculous 9 months. Maternity sessions are a gift to yourself. They are a time when you'll feel beautiful in your own skin while honoring the amazing gift you are giving the life inside you.

In-home, studio, or outdoor, solo portraits or with your partner, multiple outfits; I'd love to hear your vision for the session and make that come to fruition.

What week should I do maternity photos?

I recommend booking your maternity session around 30-34 weeks gestation. At this point your belly is showing and you generally feel more comfortable than later in the 3rd trimester. A great time to schedule this is after your 20 week ultrasound.

However, do not let passing the recommended window discourage you from having maternity photos taken. Any week is a great week to document this time in your life.

What do I wear for a maternity photoshoot?

Ah wardrobe- the million dollar question! Maybe the majority of of maternity photos you've seen are highly styled or with flowing dresses and you imagine that is the way it is done. Sure, that is one way to style and photograph a maternity session, but there are many others. Think first how you want to feel and look in your photos and go from there. It doesn't have to be a dress; it can be jeans and a top, a bodysuit, a robe. Check out some of my suggestions on the blog for outfit ideas.

What colors should I wear for maternity photos?

Colors that you feel great wearing! Neutral or softer toned colors photograph well and are timeless, but well planned color combinations are beautiful as well.
