In-Home Newborn

"Enjoy the little things in life because one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things."

Kurt Vonnegut

Natural. Organic. Timeless. A newborn session capturing the everyday moments in the place that matters most to you, your home.

These sessions average 1.5 hours and are scheduled anytime within the first 3 months after baby's birth.

These photo sessions are stress-free and baby-led. I'll use natural light around your home to document life with your precious newborn.

In-Home newborn is a timeless approach that focuses on connection and love within the family. It is also important to me to have many images of mom in the frame since she is often behind the camera and missing from the photos.

If home is a special place for you and you are looking to capture love and connection in an authentic way, this is a great session for you! Before the session I love to learn more about your family to make sure the session is tailored to your needs.

Kind Words
Rockville Maryland Fresh 48 Natural Newborn Photographer

I did a maternity and in-home newborn photo session and the whole experience couldn’t have been better! We discussed what I wanted for the photos prior to the session and she was very responsive. She was flexible and made the whole process stress free. The pictures turned out so beautiful and I’m so thankful to have these images to look back on.

Frequently asked questions

When do you schedule sessions?

Sessions are scheduled during morning hours on both weekdays and weekends. On weekdays, sessions typically start around 9:30am or 10am. On weekends they may start as late as 11am.

For the best images, we'll discuss prior to the session which rooms you are interested in photographing in (usually 2-3 rooms) and we will find the best time for natural light photos.

How long are in-home newborn sessions?

Full sessions usually last about 1.5-2 hours. This allows us time to go with the flow and give baby time to feed and be changed as needed. Sessions are low stress and a truly enjoyable time with your family.

My home is dark- do you only use natural light?

This is a common concern but one not to worry about! I primarily use natural light for newborn sessions. However, if you have a room that is special to you that doesn't get a lot of natural light or if it is a very overcast day, I do bring an external flash as a backup to make the best quality images. I have experience with using a flash so much that it very much mimics natural light and you may never know the difference :)

When is the best time to schedule a newborn session?

I typically recommend around 7 days-21 days for a newborn session if you want an early newborn session. This way your family has had some time to adjust after welcoming a baby to the family but the baby is still sleepy and new but also more alert. I love getting pictures of baby's eyes open and interacting with parents and siblings. Waiting a little beyond the first few days gives a nice mix of sleepy and alert shots. Plus I find the extra time after baby is born to be less stressful for parents to feel ready for a session and that is very important overall. Otherwise, any time is a good time for a newborn session, even beyond a few weeks old!
